It is also possible to divide defibrillators into two types: mono-phasic and biphasic. In the mono-phasic system, the electrical impulse is transmitted rapidly in a single direction from one electrode to the other, whereas in the biphasic model, the path of the electrical impulse differs and completes one cycle in about 10 milliseconds.
Because AEDs are so effective and convenient to use, government efforts should be made to make defibrillators as common in public places as fire extinguishers to save more and more lives.
